From the Ancient Ruins to the Fetid Swamp to the Putrid Bog. We continue our short forays into Classic Korg.

From the Fetid Swamp to the Putrid Bog. It's like we are going deeper and deeper into locales with worse water flow.

Since these aren't so much individual attempts as "continue until I complete it," I have slightly updated the title of this one to say Location.

This one was picked because it has a different mechanic. You get "exploration bonuses" which add to the d6. This is used in some locations to reach "upper rooms" and resets upon leaving. What makes this one interesting is that you have a bit of a flow chart to beat the Putrid Bog: (1) Get enough Gold to purchase a Great Sword, (2) Get enough Exploration Bonus (+2, the max) to reach an 8, (3) Fight and beat Will-o-Wisps, (4) Fight and Beat the Troll. Leaving to go and buy the sword will reset the exploration bonus.

Putrid Bog: Take One

QUEST: Defeat the Troll (which requires the Flame Sword (which requires the Great Sword + slaying Will-o-Wisps [in that order)). OR, get 50gp.

Note: at this point, it is equal if I leave or not since there's still a 1/6 chance I'll fight a Troll, so I'll...

  • [6] Troll >> [5+2] Troll is dead. I am winnar!

With the slightly more complicated mechanics of this one, it helps it to feel like a more full adventure. Got a couple rolls off twice from being killed. It was fun.

From those remaining there is one (Dragon's Lair) that is much longer and requires stacking exploration bonuses to get to the final floor so will feel a lot more like going back and forth to base until you are ready. There are also one (Tyrant's Keep) where the main boss has x=6 [which is unbeatable, normally, so requires a blade]. I might try one of those very soon, but I think the next one will be Dark Tower.

You can fight the Vampire from the start but it will kill you. You have to get at least a weapon from the shop, and it gets easier if you also have the Blessed Amulet. Then you have to kill three of the buggers. Seems like that one might go south much more quickly.
