The Fetid Swamp

Note, I'm going to push my luck, here. I need 17GP to purchase the Dragon Slayer which gives +1/+2 vs (D)ragon-types.

Ok, that was a mistake. I'm going to reflect on my mistakes.

  • SHOP: -7GP (5GP) >> High Potion. Heal 7HP (15HP).
  • SHOP: -4GP (1GP) >> 2x Tools [each, avoid Trap once].
  • [2] Croaker >> [2] I slay the Croaker.
  • [3] Snakefolk (looking for revenge!) >> [3] Take 3DMG (12HP) >> [4] I slay the Snakefolk. +4GP (5GP).
  • [1] Acid Cyst (typical) >> use a Tool to avoid it (1 Remains).
  • [5] Shaman (4, 3DMG) >> [3] Take 3DMG (9HP) >> [4] Take 3DMG (6HP) >> [4] Take 3DMG (3HP) >> [3] Take 3DMG (0HP) >> DEAD.

Ah well, it looked like it was going to go better to start but after that first fight with the Snakefolk, it just went downhill. I could have tried using the FLEE mechanics (4+, no matter the foe) which might have kept me alive but this isn't precisely that came again.

Tell you what, let's do a second round of the Fetid Swamp and see if the second one goes better for me. Making smarter choices.

  • SHOP: -17GP >> Dragon Slayer (+1 Fight, +2 vs D). 1GP remains.
  • [4] Slime >> [6+1] I slay the stupid slime before it can take my sword >> [6] 6GP (7HP).
  • SHOP: -2GP (5) >> Tools to avoid trap. -4GP (1GP) >> Lithe Boots. Now I flee on a 3+.
  • [1] Acid Cyst: -1gp. Good thing I spent it.

I have completed the quest and with the leftover gold hold funerals for the other two. At least as much of a funeral that 18GP can buy.


Hopefully that does a decent job of showing the swings and roundabouts. And, compared to the first post, how slight differences in the card makes for a similar but mechanically different experience. I think I'll try one of the longer ones, next.
