Hello, Space Pilgrims, my name is Doug Bolden, it is nice to meet you.

I play all sorts of solo roleplaying games. My favorite “solo rpgs” are mostly just traditional role playing games—some with solo-modes or solo-options baked in—backed by years of personal experience, a game master emulator, random tables, NPC emulators, and a few other tools.

Things Posted Here

The content you find here is mostly (90% and up) typed up versions of “actual plays” of my solo rpg campaigns. I try to balance sharing of mechanics, commentary, and reactions [which I share largely through text but also some imagery] with making an interesting fiction. Other solo players will find a different balance. That is ok. My way is only one to do it and changes semi-frequently. Hopefully for the better.

Other content posted here is a mixture of solo musings, solo reviews, oracles, and other things broadly related to the solo rpg hobby. This is sometimes frequent but usually not so much.

Post Frequency

Over the course of this blog I have experimented with posting as I felt like it, once a week, twice a week, three times a week, and even more. For a while I had a set schedule [Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays] and other times I had other set schedules.

Nowadays I have generally drifted back to “posting as I feel like it.” As I have said elsewhere in the behind-the-scenes of this project: I just volunteer here.

Sponsored Content

While I have done a couple of reviews and playtests of games after talking to the creators, I do not wish to do a lot of “sponsored content” or “content swapping” and such. I have my own style of play that rarely worries too much with precise rules lawyering. I spend weeks and months getting into sets of characters and world building.

Besides, if any indie/small creators have a cool project I would rather pay for it and support them and then hype it up rather than get it for free where it feels like I have to sell it or give just a taste of it.

In general, I am trying to keep this blog as a fun fan project and avoid turning into another collection of advertisements that folk have to wade through.
